What is the difference between the BMW M57 engines?

BMW M57 2.5 and 3.0 turbo diesel engines across E39, E46, E60, E65, E70 and E83. We list 3 versions: M57D30TU2 (3.0 liter (2,993 cc), 210 kW (286 HP), 2006 to 2012); M57D30TU (3.0 liter (2,993 cc), 160 kW (218 HP), 2003 to 2010); M57D25TU (2.5 liter (2,497 cc), 130 kW (177 HP), 2000 to 2007).

The versions share the same basic design, but the power, the turbo or injection set-up, the electronics and the emission standard change. The right one for you is the one your car was built with.

The M57 family was used in chassis E60, E61, E90, E92, E70, E83, E65, E46, E53 and E39. The photos on each listing show the actual engine, not a stock picture. The yard checks the code, records what is bolted on, and seals the openings before the engine is offered.

Not sure? Send us your VIN and your gearbox code. We match the engine family, the year window and the parts on the engine before anything is reserved, and the check is free.
