Which cars came with the EA888 Gen3 (230 HP) engine?

The EA888 Gen3 (230 HP) was fitted to the Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI (2013 to 2020), Volkswagen A3 8V (2013 to 2020) and Volkswagen Tiguan AD1 (2016 to 2020).

Names alone can mislead. Markets and model years used different versions, so always read the code on your engine block or send us your VIN.

The EA888 Gen3 (230 HP) is also popular for engine swaps. If you plan to fit it to a car that did not come with it, you will need mounts, wiring and an engine computer that suit the swap.

Not sure? Send us your VIN and your gearbox code. We match the engine family, the year window and the parts on the engine before anything is reserved, and the check is free.
