What is the difference between the Volkswagen ALH engines?

VW ALH and BEW 1.9 TDI engines, still the most asked-for small diesel. We list: ALH (1.9 liter (1,896 cc), 66 kW (90 HP), 1998 to 2003); BEW (1.9 liter (1,896 cc), 74 kW (100 HP), 2003 to 2006).

The versions share a basic design but differ in power, induction, electronics and emission rules. The right one is the one your car was built with, or the one your swap kit is made for.

Each engine in the yard is inspected in Hamburg. The code is matched to the listing, the parts on the engine are recorded, the openings are sealed and the real unit is photographed. You can ask for extra photos, a close-up of the code stamp or a short video before you order.

Not sure? Send us your VIN and your gearbox code. We match the engine family, the year window and the parts on the engine before anything is reserved, and the check is free.
