What is the difference between the Toyota 1HD engines?

Toyota 1HD-FTE and 1HZ diesel engines for Land Cruiser 80, 100 and 70. We list: 1HD-FTE (4.2 liter (4,164 cc), 151 kW (204 HP), 1998 to 2007); 1HZ (4.2 liter (4,164 cc), 96 kW (129 HP), 1990 to 2023).

The versions share a basic design but differ in power, induction, electronics and emission rules. The right one is the one your car was built with, or the one your swap kit is made for.

The photos on each listing show the actual engine, not a stock picture. The yard checks the code, records what is bolted on, and seals the openings before the engine is offered. Ask the desk for more pictures of any listing. We are happy to show the stamp, the ports and the ancillaries before you decide.

Not sure? Send us your VIN and your gearbox code. We match the engine family, the year window and the parts on the engine before anything is reserved, and the check is free.
